Healthy Caramel Apples (Gluten Free, No Refined Sugar)

Healthy Caramel Apples

Here is a healthier version of the super popular Halloween treat! These are gluten free and have no refined sugar!! Enjoy! 


  • 6 large apples such as Granny Smith or McIntosh
  • 1/3 cup coconut milk
  • 1 cup organic brown rice syrup
  • 2 teaspoon real vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil or good quality unsalted butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Optional: Super Pop PB bar crumbles 


  • Wash and dry each apple. Insert bamboo skewers, or wooden sticks into the bottom end of each apple. Pull the stem from the top of each apple to remove.
  • Whisk the coconut milk, coconut oil or butter and brown rice syrup in a medium saucepan over medium-low heat. Allow to cook for 10 minutes. The sauce should bubble. Whisk in salt and vanilla.
  • Remove the caramel sauce from the heat. The caramel will thicken upon standing. Roll the apples in the caramel and use a spoon to pour on, and the back of the spoon to spread.
  • Set each skewered caramel apple onto wax paper-lined baking sheet. Now is the time to sprinkle on some Super Pop bar crumbles. Allow to set in the fridge for an hour to harden. Place lined or grouped on a plate to serve.
